Well, Name, I'm beginning to think you might be right. Although the global features of Disqus are quite nice, I don't like the way it appears within a post. For a start, if you get the nesting of a reply wrong, your comments appear all out of synch. Also, it doesn't seem to be able to count how many comments there are. Others have been confused by the fact that it tells you how many comments you yourself have made, rather than how many are in the thread you're looking at. This is a serious breach of a well-established convention and on its own is enough to make it a bad user interface.

Well, what actually attracted me was the UI, which I thought looked neat and intelligible. Then there was the idea that I could moderate all the comments across all my sites in a single place, filter and sort comments by various criteria, and view them by thread (essentially, by post). I don't get an overwhelming number of comments but already I find that I miss one or two. Then there's the Disqus Profile stuff but I'm not sure I'll be using that. (Then again, I never thought I'd be using Twitter.)
